20-22 June 2005 experts of the Institute for Rural Development took part in the Conference „On the Way to Public Confidence: Philanthropy in the Ukrainian Community”, organised by Ukraine Citizen Action Network Project (UCAN).
This annual conference was convened by the Citizen Philanthropy Development Centre in order to attract leading specialists to share experience and discuss the ways of philanthropy development in Ukrainian communities. Leading “third sector” specialists, representatives of various donor and international organisations, governmental agencies and business entities from Ukraine, Russia, Slovakia, Great Britain, USA and Romania attended the event. During three days the participants discussed issues of philanthropy legal framework, social responsibility of business, philanthropy development perspectives etc. The possibility of using various models to support vulnerable population groups in Ukraine was also considered.
Expert of the Institute for Rural Development Roman Korinets informed the participants about the Community Foundations models developed under the Ukraine Rural Livelihoods Programme.
